Kay Gabriel is a poet and essayist. She’s the author of Elegy Department Spring / Candy Sonnets 1 (BOAAT Press, 2017), the finalist for the 2016 BOAAT Chapbook Prize selected by Richard Siken. In 2018-19 Kay was an Emerge-Surface-Be fellow at the Poetry Project, selected by Rachel Levitsky, and in 2019 a fellow at the Lambda Literary Emerging Writers Retreat. With Liam O’Brien and Stephen Ira she co-founded Vetch, a poetry magazine by and for trans writers; she’s currently part of the editorial collective for the Poetry Project Newsletter. She recently completed her PhD in Classics at Princeton University. With Andrea Abi-Karam she’s editing an anthology of radical trans poetics, forthcoming from Nightboat Books in 2020.
