Joyelle McSweeney is a Guggenheim Fellow and the recipient of an Arts and Letters Awards in Literature!

We’re thrilled to share that Joyelle McSweeney is a 2022 Guggenheim Fellow in Poetry, as well as the recipient of a 2022 Arts and Letters Awards in Literature from The American Academy of Arts and Letters! These incredible opportunities follow the recent publication of her 2020 collection Toxicon and Arachne, a virtuosic book of poems written in direct engagement with lyric, grief, and catastrophe.

The Arts and Letters Awards in Literature are given to eight writers, bestowing $10,000 each and “honoring exceptional accomplishment in any genre.”—The American Academy of Arts and Letters

The Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has selected “180 scientists, writers, scholars, and artists honored across 51 fields. Chosen from a rigorous application and peer review process out of almost 2500 applicants, these successful applicants were appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise.”—The Guggenheim Memorial Foundation

Congratulations, Joyelle!
