Translation animates Dura, whose project could be described in Kim’s own words, an “Invention where the tomatoes dangling form one end are not the tomatoes hanging from the other end.” As “Dangling” becomes “hanging,” Kim demonstrates how quickly equivalencies dissolve.

[Kim’s work] reminds us of poetry’s oldest concerns with destruction, diaspora, and the preservation of the human figure from oblivion. For so fine an intelligence as Kim’s, the sparest details acquire an epic resonance.
